What is different about the explanations
Most prep books explain the correct answer and leave the other three alone. Every explanation in the book does four things: why the key is right, traced to the task statement it came from; why each wrong option was tempting, naming the misconception behind it; the detail in the question that rules that option out; and the one line that separates the key from the next-best option. On a scenario exam the failure mode is rarely ignorance. It is choosing the second-best answer.

Where the mocks put the weight
Every mock is drawn at the published weights of the exam's own areas.
The real NCE has 200 questions in 225 minutes, of which 160 are scored and 40 are unscored pretest questions. Each mock here holds the 160 that would count, on a 180-minute clock: the real exam's pace of about 67 seconds a question.

What it is, and what it is not
- Independent practice material. The app is not an official exam simulator, and nothing here is affiliated with or endorsed by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
- Every question is original, written from the published NCE content outline. No question is taken from, or modelled on, any real exam question.
- Built for the current four-option, 200-question NCE, in use through 30 June 2027. NBCC has announced a new form from 1 July 2027 (170 three-option questions, new domains). If you test after that date, the counseling knowledge still applies, but the format and the domain weights do not.
- No product can promise a result. This one shows which answers are wrong, and what each wrong answer was built out of, before the exam asks.

How many timed mocks?

73 key-term cards across the exam's areas. The Anki file also holds the 1,014 practice questions as a second deck. The bundle's depth is in the question bank and the mocks, not the key-term cards.
Is the app the official NCE exam simulator?
No. It is independent practice material, built to the published NCE content outline. It is not made, checked or endorsed by NBCC.
Do I need internet?
Only to download. After that the app, the book and every extra work offline, on a computer, phone or tablet, with nothing to install and no account.
